Four-Months Break: Quick Life Update

To go north, you must journey south. To reach the west, you must go east. To go forward you must go back, and to touch the light you must pass beneath the shadow.

“A Clash of Kings” by George R.R. Martin

Since my last blog post I…

…thought I caught a medieval disease [going into the details of my unknown allergy is too painful of a memory].

…wrote and gave in my thesis.

…unwillingly finished my studies at Sorbonne.

…finished 5th GoT book and watched the 6th season [it was e p i c!].

…got back to my running routine.

…met incredibly kind, funny, smart people.

…stepped out of my comfort zone and made choices that don’t grant me a secured and an easy professional path, but a more challenging and exciting one.

…went to Alsace to visit friends and came back with two ticks on my body [argh…].

…did a free trial of power plate with my colleagues and friends [the most uncomfortable experience ever].

…took up a weekend job to get more experience and pay my bills.

…finished my 6-months internship.

There is no particular purpose to this blog post. Or, actually, there is one: whenever I take a long break from doing something [be it reading or running, or writing in this case] it is always hard to get back to the routine, to make this step forward. So I finally decided to do this step even if it is a clumsy one.

In March I chose to stop blogging and concentrate more on my internship and thesis writing. Juggling with three or more completely different projects was too much and my energy was at its lowest. Besides, no matter how desperately I was trying to stay determined and positive, waves of anxiety kept kicking in. Creative juices were not flowing as you can guess…

Today, I am at the point where I made my hard choices and am technically on holidays which means more sleep and a higher energy level. I count on blogging to become a part of my self-confidence building plan. I need to believe in myself again. And what a better way to face my fears and insecurities than by actually doing what scares me and is out of my comfort zone? Kicking my arse basically.

On that note, I will leave you here and will come back with a less hazardous and more useful content.

P.S. also, check out my tumblr entirely dedicated to the quotes from the books I read. Self promotion never hurt.
